I'm going to school again

I'm going to school again. Not as a student, not as a teacher, but as a guardian to two naughty twin kindergarten boys.

Every day, I take them to school. After dropping them off, I wait outside their classroom and join the other parents and guardians for the daily gossip. We stay there in case the teacher calls us.

It's funny that I'm going to the same school I attended during my daycare and kindergarten years. What's even funnier is that I'm seeing familiar faces again. They're my childhood friends and classmates who, like me, wait for their own children until class ends.

I never thought this would become part of my routine. I don't have children of my own, so I never imagined spending my mornings waiting outside a classroom. But life has a funny way of giving us roles we never expected. We don't always choose them, but eventually, we start to appreciate them. Sometimes, we simply don't have a choice but to accept and go through it.

To be fair, a lot of my habits have changed since I started taking the boys to school. I wake up earlier now, and I go to bed earlier too. I'm relearning patience because, I'll admit, I've been short-tempered lately. I've also made a few new friends along the way—mostly moms and grandmothers.

I don't know how long I'll be taking them to school every morning. Probably until they're old enough to go on their own. But for now, I'm happy doing this.
